The S2000HXII updates Samurai’s Vintage Series with a distinctive 15.8oz fabric, a relaxed straight silhouette and carefully reproduced wartime details. Its character begins with the cotton: Texas cotton in the warp and a special weft blended with Samurai’s own Japanese-grown cotton, woven together on a rare vintage Toyoda GL3 loom.
FIT & SIZING
A slightly wide straight leg, with generous room through the rise and hips, gives this model its comfortable, vintage-inspired proportions. The silhouette sits naturally alongside the rugged fabric and understated construction.

WARTIME CONSTRUCTION
The S2000HXII draws on the practical construction of WWII-era jeans. An iron laurel top button sits above smaller SAMURAI JAPAN iron fly buttons, while substantial SAMURAI CO LTD brass rivets and hidden rivets reinforce the garment.
Samurai uses cotton sewing thread throughout, carefully selecting thread colours, thicknesses, stitch lengths and widths to recreate the appearance of period denim. Details such as the deliberately raw-cut bottom of the fly preserve the utilitarian character of wartime production.
Inside, olive herringbone pocket bags complement the military influence. The leather patch revisits the design of Samurai’s early wartime models, accompanied by a camouflage-pattern flasher.
15.8OZ SAMURAI COTTON GL3 DENIM
The fabric combines a slubby #6 Texas cotton warp with a #5 weft blended with Samurai Cotton. The warp is dyed a deep, distinctly blue indigo inspired by 1950s denim, while the short-staple Japanese cotton in the weft contributes nep and a naturally rough texture.
Woven slowly on the GL3, one of Japan’s earliest power looms, the denim retains the irregular structure of its yarns. The result is a substantial fabric with visible variation across the surface and a tactile, uneven feel.
The selvedge features an off-white “kinari” base, a pale pink centre thread reminiscent of faded red, and a single metallic lamé strand—a subtle Samurai signature.
