They found a local tailor shop that specialized in intricate embroidery and began ordering custom items featuring oriental patterns along with the emblems of their respective units and bases. These embroidered pieces served as cherished mementos of their time and experiences in Japan.

One particularly notable creation from this era is a special jacket that has become a symbol of both cultural fusion and military history. The front side of the jacket boasts an exquisite embroidered illustration of the Seven Lucky Gods, which is part of an ambitious project celebrating the 45th anniversary of this tradition. Known by the nickname of "Engineer Jacket", which has been released since 2017, in the 1940s, it was in the category of "vest" with sleeves, like the C-2 sweater of the US Army Air Corps. Originally designed for indoor work, it features a short length and no collar, and can be layered with a coat. Since it is based on the post-war model, the brass buttons with the navy logo are used for the buttons, but the number of buttons and pockets are the same as in the war period, just like the coat.

Sugar cane denim "Lot.401" using Hawaiian indigo that forms a pair with the Ryukyu indigo model. The silhouette is a regular straight similar to the 1947 model (Lot No. SC41947). The fabric has a strong bluish color and is characterized by unevenness. The label is a hair-on-hide branded turtle, which is considered to be a messenger of the gods in Hawaii, and the back pocket has a hand-embroidered sashiko stitch.

The 1947 model is iconic jeans of Sugar Cane that represents the extravagant details found in the vintage jeans made in the late 1940s. The entire process of production that includes spinning, dyeing, weaving, and sewing is based on one of vintage jeans, and done with great care to create a pair that is worthy of the name “Standard Denim”. The silhouette is regular straight.

Sugar Cane has studied and paid the closest attention to the entire process of recreating vintage denim, such as spinning, weaving, dyeing and stitching. Accordingly, their denim products have been loved and appreciated by many people across the world for a long period of time, establishing their status as timeless classic pieces. This is what we call a true “STANDARD.”

Most modern clothing uses zip fly, but in 1947 button fly was the mainstream. One of the reasons for this is that the fabric used for these jeans is not pre-shrunk, so if the zipper is attached and then washed, the fabric will shrink and the zipper will become unusable. Inspired by vintage, it uses iron buttons with original engraving.

Selvage is used at the edge of the coin pocket opening. Reinforced with punched copper rivets. As you can see from the aging samples, as a result of meticulous attention to the fabric and parts, the denim fabric fades with repeated wear and washing without forcibly modifying it, and the rivets oxidize and show a beautiful aging.

When stitching the top of the waist belt, the belt loops and leather patches are sewn together. The patch is made of deerskin. If you look at vintage jeans, the center back belt loop is sometimes offset, but the 1947 model is centered. Just like vintage clothes, which were made in an era when standards were not yet unified, every detail is faithfully reproduced, such as using dozens of different types of cotton threads of different colors and thicknesses for sewing.

The stitching of the hip pocket is common to both the left and right, starting with the upper right edge stitch, going to the upper left of the pocket, entering inside, inserting the inside stitch and returning to the upper right. Gray hidden bar tacks applied for reinforcement are slightly peeking.

Since exposed rivets may damage horse saddles, cars, furniture, etc., concealed rivets (hidden rivets), which have been adopted since 1937, can be seen from the inside. Waist pocket sacking. Selvage is used at the edges of the bottom seam allowance. A thick cotton thread is used for the stitching of the crotch part where the load is applied. A reinforcing bar tack is put in the thick part where the fabric gathers.

Crafted with a 16.5 Oz low tension Japanese fabric will turn in some nice vintage fading color. A tapered fit with a higher rise, roomy thighs, and tapered legs. Our ARASHI fabric is our very first AIZOME fabric. It is very slubby and textured. It is a traditional Japanese dyeing method that is unrivalled. The slub yarn is individually selected and dipped in natural indigo by hand. The colour is a thing of beauty, a very light, yet deep blue. It is our most limited fabric as the production is slow and there are only a handful of Japanese craftsmen able to dye the fabric. No other denim requires this much manual labour. The yarns are then woven with ultra-low tension to pronounce the texture even more. At 18oz, this is definitely on the heavier side of things. The structure reminded us of a rising tempest, therefore we named it ARASHI which translated means storm. Only 80 pieces were ever produced worldwide.

We have developed a black version of our retro fabric and we are quite excited about it.
A super dense yarn meets ultra low tension weaving.
The fabric has a nice amount of loom-shatter, a crisp surface, and a stunning deep black colour.
We used a combination of Texas and Supima cotton that guarantees a very durable yarn yet a soft feel.
We have experimented quite extensively with the cotton ratio for this one. This cotton combo holds the dye better which results in a deeper black. The stitching for this one is quite special: A variety of contrasting blue threads which really stand out.

This fabric is also much more affordable without compromising on the beauty of the natural indigo blue. Rope-dyed by the only mill in Japan able to do this type of natural indigo fabric, and used special organic natural indigo from India that cannot be found anywhere else in the Japanese denim industry. This fabric is exclusive in many ways. Made with the low-tension weave, the denim is rich in slub and fuzziness on the surface to rival the beautiful blue of natural indigo.

A tapered fit with roomy thighs and tapered legs. Made from Ten (天) fabric, the denim stands for knotty and spotty, but also for the sky, which sums the characteristics of this slubby lightweight fabric perfectly. At 12.5oz, this super low tension fabric is extremely breathable without compromising on texture usually only to be found on denim a lot heavier. The combination of Texas cotton and Pima cotton for the warp and South American (Peru) cotton for the weft allow for some of the most irregular and textured denim that we have ever made. The density of the weft is a lot higher than the warp yarn which resulted in all the slub and hairiness we could hope for. Another important aspect of this fabric is the dye. While the warp yarn is rope-dyed in pure indigo, the horizontal threads of the weft demonstrate a light beige with the cheese dyeing method.

A tapered fit with roomy thighs and tapered leg. Our YURAI fabric is a sight to behold. After developing a rope-dying method for our natural indigo fabric, which results in rich and intense shades of blue and contrasts which makes it very unique, we wanted to take things further. We created a cobalt blue weft with natural indigo. We created this rich blue by dipping the yarn into natural indigo with shorter exposures to oxygen which results in a lighter blue. The colour reminds us of the Tanuki blue that runs through all of our products: YURAI means source. The denim is rich in slub and fuzziness on the surface and thanks to the loose weave, the cobalt blue peaks through the surface which adds depths to the denim. The electric blue fades will be very unique. The banana and light beige stitching adds just the right amount of contrast to this fabric.

Our most popular model : TCB 50’s Slim Jeans made in reverence of 50's vintage with the paper patch and based on our flagship model, we have modified the shape to a slimmer, more tapered and with a moderate rise & back rise.

This is TCB’s first ‘tight’ fit model, made of the TCB exclusive fabric with the same sewing methods.

Some people might say TCB is not a brand for slim and modern shaped jeans. Yes, we know it. But it’s a sort of localization we tried this time just like japanese cars modified to left handle when they are imported overseas.

It’s just that you can select the best fit for you from this flagship model of TCB.
The fabric used is 13.5 OZ, made of Zimbabwe cotton.

Our most popular model : TCB 50's Jeans made in reverence of 50's vintage with the paper patch and we have modified the shape to a slimmer with a lower rise for those who prefer tight fit but want to enjoy the real vintage fades as much.

We've carefully studied a vintage piece TCB owns to every single detail from the shape to the yarn count for each seams.
The fabric used is 13.5 OZ, made of Zimbabwe cotton.
It has the natural unevenness such as unstable thread thickness and irregular tense on the fabric made by a vintage loom, not by the main stream methods of the computer regulation.

The fades start showing as white dots appearing in the beginning and then each dots will get connected together. As a result, it will show so beautiful vertical fades like the authentic vintage pieces.

When attaching the hidden rivets on the back pockets, we've adopted the most durable method out of many ways to do it.
The paper patch is all sewn by hands. At around the timing when the fades start to look great, the patch starts to be torn apart, showing the dark blue from the inside.

As for the commitment to the reproducibility of the sewing methods,
we payed the closest attention to it as the sewing factory from Kojima, Japan. We've picked up 4 different colors and 5 different yarn counts for the sewing yarns. The sewing width differs depending on where, of course we picked them up carefully. True to the vintage piece, including the setting and the adjustment of the vintage sewing machines.

When you look at the seams on the pocket bags, they used to be roughly sewn. To this sort of negative points, we did the same rough sewing on the pocket bags whilst keeping the durability there. So many hidden commitments here and there to be found as you wear and love this jeans.

TCB created this jacket in reverence of a vintage chore jacket from TCB archives. The asymmetry pockets shapes and the raglans sleeves are often seen as the features for this type of jacket from 20's.

The fabric is made of 100% cotton and it is 11.2 OZ brown duck.
In order to stabilize the quality of the fabric, we've selected to use the fabric made of the cottons blended with American- grown and Australia-grown ones.

They have analyzed a vintage duck jacket from 50's and have succeeded to make an unique, unsaforized fabric with much unevenness remaining on the surface.
In addition to it, we have chosen to dye the fabric without mercerization and as a result, the fabric has a very natural feeling and color, which we wanted for the best fades.

*Mercerization is a common process for fabrics to get more silky and shiny look and after the process, the color after dyeing will look more fine and uniformed.

We've reproducted a pair of jeans in reference to the one from the late 60's, the icon of which was the orange tab on the back pocket.
As much respect to the original, we've made realized the following details.

Original orange tab, 7 belt loops,the seaming width for the lapping seam of 9/32 inch, the three-folded opening for the front pockets, the chain stitching on the back of the coin pocket and of the back pockets, and the triangle shaped stitches on the bottom corners of the back pockets by two-needle sewing.

The fabric is made of the cotton from the US, woven in the heritage way, leading to natural slubbiness.
We've also paid a close attention to the dyeing. For this fabric, we've reproduced the slightly lighter indigo blue often seen in 60's without the singeing. The dyestuff does not include any sulfur ingredients so hat it's pure natural indigo dyed to perfectly reproduce the color from the days back then.

The fabric is woven with a little tention applied by vintage looms so that the surface looks bumpy here and there with much character.

We've finally made something we had the biggest expectations about.

When Hajime Inoue started TCB back in 2012, he was more fond of the standard vintages like 1955 model, 66 model but as he's got more skilled at making jeans and more knowledgeable about how to faithfully reproduce vintages, he started to find more beauty in the imperfections.

The simplified models are full of sketchy work and far from perfect finish but

are full of history and story behind.

・Double-stiched front pockets - In order to survive through the tough duty, the pockets needed to be durable so that they are sewn double stitched.

・TCB exclusive urea buttons- We've made the custom change-buttons for the jacket, made of urea resin. They will age nicely alongside with the jacket as you keep wearing.

・The fabric - it's 10OZ neppy denim with much slubbiness on the surface, woven by vintage looms. The roll of the fabric itself is selvedge but we don't use everyone's favorite selvedge part because that's how the original goes. The warps are pre-dyed grey so that when the pants get some fades, the grey gradually comes out, which look I find fascinating about this fabric. We are TCB so that you can have a high expecting on the puckering fades as well.

・Handworked stencil inside the waist belt

It is not a reproduction of a jacket from a specific brand but a jacket loaded with some particular features seen in coveralls in 30's such as asymmetry pockets, chin strap and the location of the facing on the cuffs.

The denim fabrics woven using the 2×1 weave (2 warp threads for every weft thread) looks flat at first sight but as you keep wearing them, it will start to show its roughness and its beautiful fades underneath.

We've selected neppy, grey-colored threads for the warps, which makes the fabric 10 OZ.

This jeans is part of TCB's collabo with Viktor Fredbäck!
Viktor is a great denim collector who probably owns over 400 pairs of jeans and he teamed up with the brand to make something unique.

Made with EMOT cotton, a blend of East Memphis, New Orleans, Texas cotton and finished with prima cotton which gives the jacket the brown/cream result we can all witness.

This model/cut has been inspired from a piece which was dig out from the gold mines in the Nevada desert, can you believe it? It was something the workers at the beginning of the 19th century were wearing. This pant was built after a pair of Olympic Brand, which was a sub label of Levi's back in time.
