This fabric is made by three different thickness yarn to have a vintage vertical fading and very unique “structured denim”. Each yarn is very slubby and it gets dipped into the indigo many times using the "rope dying" traditional technique.
Made with mixed Usa and Australian cotton with slightly low-tension weaving, the fabric was then sent out to Italy to get hand sewed by Holy Blue artisans in a small lab in the amazing Venice area.

Founded in 2006, Japanese brand Momotaro stakes his claim with one simple phrase "Made by hand without compromise".  Being part of the amazing Japan Blue company made it easy for the brand to build a strong reputation in the denim industry and put their name on the top. The logo was inspired by an old Japanese legend about a boy born in a peach who struggled his whole life to save his village from destruction and demons. Bleach, enzymes, and fluorescent brightening agents pose a triple threat to your denim's longevity. Each fade on your cherished jeans tells a story, forming a unique narrative of your life. Therefore, it's crucial to handle washing with utmost care. These fades, including honeycombs, whiskers, and 'atari' patterns, contribute to the artistic allure of your jeans. Harsh chemicals can harm the fabric, necessitating a natural approach to preserve the fades and extend the jeans' lifespan.

Conventional denim wisdom suggests that optimal fades can only be achieved by abstaining from washing. While there's some truth to this notion, excessive washing prevents creases from settling into the fabric, resulting in a more uniform fade with fewer distinctive features. This explains why some aficionados swear by never washing their jeans at all.

Furthermore, it's often advised that if you must wash your jeans, avoid using soap or detergent. However, this can lead to a buildup of sweat and oils, weakening the fabric and potentially causing tears. Additionally, the accumulation of bacteria can result in unpleasant odors. Therefore, striking a balance between wearing the jeans to develop desired fades and washing them naturally is essential for their longevity and freshness.

Enter Kaminari laundry powder, crafted from bean oil, often termed the 'virgin oil' of soybeans. This soap is a by-product of soy sauce production, derived from the residue left after pressing beans for sauce. Sourcing materials exclusively from traditional soy sauce manufacturers, Kaminari production is limited. Motomiya Soap Factory has been producing Kaminari laundry soap since 1922, adhering to a simple recipe of water, bean oil, and caustic soda. Samurai Jeans was impressed by their commitment to traditional methods and product quality.

Beyond its production process, Kaminari boasts 99% purity, free from additives, making it safe for both the body and the environment. Its efficacy in removing dirt from clothes further enhances its appeal. For those seeking to preserve their jeans' integrity while maximizing fade potential, Samurai recommends Kaminari laundry powder.

Featuring a relaxed straight cut with a roomy rise and generous space in the hips, these jeans pay homage to the iconic denim styles of the World War II era. Samurai dedicated themselves to authenticity, meticulously researching the period’s cotton yarns and examining every detail, from thread thickness and distinctive thread colors to historically accurate stitch width. They then infused their unique Samurai magic to craft a truly exceptional piece.

Made from 15oz Texas cotton spun into slubby #6 threads, this denim strikes a perfect balance between weight and texture. Although it is relatively lighter compared to other Samurai denim varieties, the fabric's hard texture and inherent roughness have garnered a loyal following among denim enthusiasts.

In their quest to replicate the original specifications of jeans from that era, the designers incorporated several unique features. The olive-colored herringbone pocket bags add a touch of vintage authenticity while providing durability and strength. Additionally, they chose to preserve some of the uncut portions of the fabric—a detail typically trimmed or removed in modern jeans—to stay true to the construction methods of the time.

This pair of jeans embodies the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail that Samurai Jeans is renowned for.

This series started with the 2020 model, and the fifth installment features dragons showcased in various locations. The pocket bags are crafted from the original Samurai's dragon-patterned fabric, which they also used for this season's aloha shirts. The sewing specifications highlight green and yellow accents. Additionally, they designed a new flasher and leather patch specifically for this model. The fabric is their signature 21oz denim, and the silhouette is a regular straight, with slightly slimmer thighs compared to our S510XX regular straight.

Samurai once again presents its annual model, this time dedicated to the Year of the Dragon for 2024. For this edition, they have utilized their iconic Kiwami fabric and adorned the jeans with numerous details, such as the dragon-patterned pocket lining fabric featured in their Dragon Hawaiian Shirt, iron-made gold Taiko buttons, and green stitching referencing the dragon's scales.

These jeans feature a classic and comfortable regular straight cut, designed to provide a timeless fit for individuals of all styles. With a mid-rise waist, they offer a balanced silhouette that effortlessly combines fashion and functionality. As with many other Samurai Jeans, this limited edition runs slightly small in the one-wash version. In general, it is recommended to choose one size larger than your usual. The jeans are unsanforized but one-washed, so there will be no further shrinkage.

The denim used is their heavyweight 21oz Kiwami fabric, meticulously woven on a vintage wooden shuttle loom using a blend of US and Australian cotton. The yarn is a unique #4.5 x #4.5 original slubby yarn, adding texture and character to the fabric. Only the most skilled and accomplished weaving craftsmen were able to tame the looms that created this durable denim, weighing over 20 ounces. The dedication and expertise of these craftsmen are symbolized by the strands of red and gold lamé running along the selvedge line of this exceptional 21oz denim masterpiece.

 This model highlights the legacy of Toshiie Maeda, a renowned military commander celebrated for his exceptional skills as a spearman and his role as the shogun's trusted right-hand man. Known by the name "Mataza," which he received on his coming-of-age day, he was a formidable force on the battlefield, feared for his expertise with the spear.

He governed the region known as Kaga (modern-day Ishikawa Prefecture), an area now famous for its gold leaf production. The gold stitching and design on the leather patch pay tribute to this traditional craft and industry. The buttons are adorned with a plum and pine motif—where "pine" is pronounced "matsu" in Japanese, also the name of his wife—while the plum represents his family's crest.

The yarn used in this denim is a unique, extra-thick count of 2.5, an unconventional choice for denim production. It is dyed using 100% pure indigo rope dyeing, achieving the darkest possible shade. The fabric is woven on an old-fashioned power loom, resulting in a rough texture, with the thick yarn woven as densely as possible.

The selvedge is crafted with a special technique, intertwining glittery threads, predominantly gold, to create a thick, striking edge. While this description may sound simple, the production process is anything but.

Rope-dyeing and weaving this thick, uneven yarn on a power loom follows the standard denim-making process. However, the sheer thickness of the yarn places immense strain on every step. The 25oz non-standard fabric exerts extraordinary pressure on the loom, leading to frequent thread breakages. Additionally, the thick weft yarn necessitates frequent shuttle changes, causing the loom to stop every few minutes.

The daily fabric output is minimal, and given the stress on both the fabric and the looms, the production team is understandably hesitant to continue. Yet, they have persevered, driven by a shared commitment to creating the finest heavy denim.

In other words, this is truly a rare and valuable denim.

However, the challenges don't end with the fabric; constructing jeans from this material is equally demanding. The weight and thickness of the fabric significantly complicate the sewing process. The strain on the sewing machines is immense, to the point where mass production of 25oz denim requires constant machine repairs.

In comparison, 21oz denim is often considered manageable or even "cute." But 25oz denim stands in a league of its own. The dedication and hard work of the craftsmen who bring this remarkable product to life are truly admirable.

The patch design features Toshiie holding his iconic long spear, with the Maeda family crest on the right, both stamped in gold. The patch also includes a limited edition serial number.

The theme of "gold" is prominent throughout the design, as seen in the samurai seagull stitching on the lower hip pocket. This is a fitting tribute to Toshiie, who ruled over the Kaga domain, now known as Kanazawa, a region famous for its wealth, once producing one million koku of rice.

The stitching uses thick gold lame thread, resulting in a striking and bold design. Similar to the previous Year of the Dragon model, the samurai seagull stitching and the red piss name tag are exclusive features of this limited special edition.

The buttons are also distinctive, including the "Kinmatsu button," familiar from other limited edition models, and the "Geisha Ume button," used on the Geisha model. Both buttons carry meanings unique to this edition:

• The Maeda family crest, "Plum"

The bag fabric is made of red herringbone slush, adding to the overall luxury of the design. Red thread is used throughout the stitching, symbolizing the image of a renowned eccentric.

An additional unique feature is the placement of the coin pocket, which is on the opposite side from the norm, located on the left front pocket. This design choice is inspired by Toshiie, who was famously known as "the fork of the spear (left)."

Crafted in homage to Kojiro Sasaki, renowned alongside Musashi Miyamoto as a master swordsman, this special edition pays tribute to his legacy with Samurai's iconic leather patches. Exclusive to milestones like Samurai's 10th, 15th, and 20th anniversaries, this model boasts a unique cutting technique reserved solely for its production.

The fabric chosen is a bespoke lefthand twill denim, characterized by its rugged yet velvety texture, woven from our distinctive Zero 17 oz. yarn. Drawing inspiration from Kojiro's legendary finesse in wielding a sword, capable of slicing a swallow in mid-flight with a meter-long blade, this design embodies a harmonious blend of resilience and refinement.

Embracing a timeless aesthetic, the silhouette features a classic buckle back and a regular straight cut, reflecting the enduring allure of traditional craftsmanship.

Kojiro Sasaki, celebrated as one of Japan's most illustrious samurai, stood as the formidable adversary of Musashi Miyamoto. His fateful duel with Musashi on Ganryu Island in 1612 marked the climax of their rivalry, leading to his demise. Revered for his mastery of the 'clothesline' sword, Kojiro's life beyond the battlefield remains shrouded in mystery, adding to the enigmatic allure of his legend.

Left-hand twill denim indeed offers some distinct characteristics compared to the more common right-hand twill. The direction of the twill weave can affect how the denim feels, wears, and fades over time.

The claim that left-hand twill tends to produce a softer fabric is attributed to the way the fibers are aligned in the weave. In left-hand twill, the diagonal lines slope from the top right to the bottom left, which can create a smoother texture. This can result in a fabric that feels softer to the touch, especially after washing and wearing.

Additionally, the way left-hand twill denim fades differs from right-hand twill denim. The fading pattern is influenced by how the indigo dye wears off over time. Left-hand twill denim may exhibit a more subtle and unique fading pattern compared to right-hand twill denim, adding to the individuality and character of the garment.

Ultimately, the choice between left-hand twill and right-hand twill denim comes down to personal preference and the desired aesthetic and feel. Both weaves have their own distinct qualities and appeal to different tastes in denim enthusiasts.

Based on the popular model S710XX 19ozⅡ, using 25oz special selvedge denim [Ushiwakamaru model] "Did not work while having excellent military talent and appearance" Incorporating specifications named after Yoshitsune Ushiwakamaru everywhere I did. The red triple stitches that image the parapet of Gojo Ohashi, the figure that dances like a swallow, and the full moon that floats in the night sky are expressed with Kinari stitches and the golden sunrise button, respectively. In addition, it is a model suitable for limited names such as decorative stitches and paint stitches on the red and white back pockets, which represent "Genpei", which is closely related to Yoshitsune Ushiwakamaru.
