These jeans are crafted from denim woven on Japan's inaugural power loom, the G3, revered as a legendary artifact. The G3 denim employs a technique known as the "darashi weave," characterized by the deliberate relaxation of warp thread tension. This deliberate irregularity and coarseness, unattainable with contemporary machinery, are achieved through meticulous manual adjustments by seasoned craftsmen. Such denim embodies the rugged and weathered aesthetic reminiscent of vintage workwear, a testament to the expertise accumulated over years of denim craftsmanship. Specifications include a Regular Straight silhouette (101 type) and a weight of 14 ounces.

To create this crazy model, Studio D'Artisan 4 different types of denim featuring their "D01" model:

  1. 100 Series Denim: Constructed from 15oz right twill selvedge denim, meticulously developed by D'Artisan using a unique blend of cottons. Known for its durability and remarkable color fading.

  2. Left Twill Denim: Made from original 14oz left twill selvedge denim, this fabric exhibits rapid color fading and features a distinctive "line fall" effect resembling drawn lines.

  3. G3 Denim: Crafted from 14oz right twill selvedge denim woven on Japan's earliest power loom, Toyota Industries' G3. This denim boasts a natural uneven texture and roughness, with pronounced spotting for a unique aesthetic.

  4. DO-1 Denim: SDA signature 15oz right twill selvedge denim, meticulously researched and spun to replicate the original fabric from the release of "DO-1." Dyed using Awa Tokushima Soai's skein-dyeing technique, this denim offers a slow, gradual fading process.

Each pair of jeans features three distinct models of front tuck buttons, allowing you to experience D'Artisan's original denim fabric with varying characteristics. The silhouette for this collection is the Tight Straight (103 type), offering a contemporary yet classic fit. These are 15.0oz selvedge jeans featuring "Ai Shibu dyed" treatment. Ai-shibu dyeing is an intricate and time-intensive technique, involving initial dyeing with real indigo to achieve a vibrant blue hue, followed by layering with persimmon tannin. The indigo dyeing results in a deeper color compared to regular methods, with the persimmon tannin intensifying in hue with use, thanks to tannin's property of undergoing condensation polymerization over time.

Persimmon juice, also recognized for its high antibacterial and deodorizing properties, has been historically used in Chinese herbal medicine. Japanese culture, with its reverence for the changing seasons and the ephemeral beauty of nature, finds expression in the colors achieved through indigo dyeing. These hues, passed down through generations, are known as "Japanese colors," possessing a profound and captivating allure that resonates deeply with admirers. The silhouette of these jeans is a regular straight fit.

This is STUDIO D'ARTISAN's iconic first model, the pioneering vintage-style selvedge jeans "DO1".

The "DO1" fabric for this project has been meticulously recreated by researching its original material and incorporating a 6th thread to replicate the twist count and the distinctive uneven texture from spinning.

Employing the traditional "Kasezome" dyeing technique of Tokushima Tatemasa Ai, great attention has been given to the meticulous process of "dyeing and drying, dyeing and drying" at least 20 times until achieving the rich navy blue hue.

The new "DO1" maintains the stylish thickness inherited from French workwear, utilizing original Tokushima Tatemasa indigo kase-dyed 15oz fabric. It features a regular straight silhouette.

This jeans was inspired by the Japanese bush warbler, known in Japanese as uguisu, which is an Asian passerine bird more often heard than seen. Its distinctive breeding song can be heard throughout much of Japan from the start of spring.

Samurai this time, pushed it forward to create something with more texture and attitude. This was created use the "left hand twill" technique to create a very slub result using an old shuttle looms. It is a type of weaving where the lines of the twill go from the top left hand corner towards the bottom right hand corner. The left hand twill is a less commonly used weave type where the diagonal lines are often showed with better definition. This fabric is also woven with low tension which adds an incredible soft touch feeling, due to the mix between thick and thin cotton threads. 

Made with mixed cotton yarns, coming from Brazil, Australia and America.

This denim is really special. Beside being a finest ecru piece made with a crazy 18oz fabric, it has something the rest of the denim in our shop don't have: this is totally organic cotton planted, weeded, picked in Japan by Japanese workers themselves. You aren't dreaming, it's Samurai pushing even harder than before. 

The Samurai team built up their dream in some remote land around Osaka, giving birth to their own cotton plants, refusing to use any kinda of fertilizers or pesticides, making this product even more unique. Of course the whole work makes this denim even more expensive but as result you have a super soft and high quality ecru jeans.

Viktor is a great denim collector who probably owns over 400 pairs of jeans and he teamed up with the brand to make something unique. 

Made with EMOT cotton, a blend of East Memphis, New Orleans, Texas cotton and finished with prima cotton which gives the jacket the brown/cream result we can all witness.

This model/cut has been inspired from a piece which was dig out from the gold mines in the Nevada desert, can you believe it? It was something the workers at the beginning of the 19th century were wearing. This pant was built after a pair of Olympic Brand, which was a sub label of Levi's back in time.

Say Hi to one of the rarest denim jeans we ever came across. Hand-dyed with Kakishibu, a natural dye taken from the juice of persimmons fruit. The whole process was guaranteed only for a really small amount of pieces, considering its very hard and unique work.  The fruit contains a strong tannin and it reacts to the sunlight so the color of this jeans changes with time and sun exposure. This traditional method disappeared for a while due to high speed consuming market which took place in the Japanese community as in any other country. Samurai is proud to bring the method back to life considering its very natural and ancestral dye.

This denim is very slubby and irregular made with superior quality. The buttons are covered in gold, the selvedge id is red and silver Lamè. Thick 3mm cowhide leather and a real straight cut makes this pant look even more beautiful.

Made in Okayama, Japan, Holy Blue's second release was woven in the in a small family mill in Kojima. This denim fabric SB567-A-RBR was created on vintage shuttle looms  handled by skilled craftsman, using only the best natural raw materials and dyeing the cotton yarn with pure indigo to weave the original denim using its vintage looms by hand. These old machines require technician's best maintenance all the time. It’s the key of vintage denim creation. 


This fabric is made by three different thickness yarn to have a vintage vertical fading and very unique “structured denim”. Each yarn is very slubby and it gets dipped into the indigo many times using the "rope dying" traditional technique.
Made with mixed Usa and Australian cotton with slightly low-tension weaving, the fabric was then sent out to Italy to get hand sewed by Holy Blue artisans in a small lab in the amazing Venice area.

A tapered fit with a higher rise, roomy thighs, and tapered legs.
We have developed a black version of our retro fabric and we are quite excited about it.
A super dense yarn meets ultra low tension weaving.
The fabric has a nice amount of loom-shatter, a crisp surface, and a stunning deep black colour.
We used a combination of Texas and Supima cotton that guarantees a very durable yarn yet a soft feel.
We have experimented quite extensively with the cotton ratio for this one. This cotton combo holds the dye better which results in a deeper black. The stitching for this one is quite special: A variety of contrasting blue threads which really stand out.

The long stabled Texas cotton provides durability, yet is comfortable to wear. The slub yarn also adds the many irregularities this fabric is known for. The slubby knots on the surface will reveal their white core the earliest so you can enjoy the process even after minimal wear. Made in Veneto, Italy, Holy Blue denim was woven in the historical mill of Berto in Bovolenta, and crafted by denim artisans in their laboratory in Piove di Sacco.This area, close to the city of Padova, is known as the birthplace of the world famous Italian denim. The Kone Nep denim is a precious fabric suitable for those customers that really see its value. All the fabrics are made by the old Picanol shuttle looms, original from the 1950’s, specifically restored and renovated by master craftsmen that brought them back and preserved their ancient processing techniques. These days the automation is widespread throughout cloth making industries but the real manufacturing of these fabrics is handmade: our looms, made of iron, cast iron, wood and leather are expertly used by skilled artisans. The artisan has a sort of relationship with his machinery: he knows all its peculiarities, its maintenance techniques and its sounds. Thanks to this handmade process the fabric is special: softness, color and appearance make them unique, with a soul, fit for unique and original clothes. Contingent irregularities and longer production methods, typical of a handcrafted product, but opposed to the industrial production, are not flaws: they are living proof of the products honesty.

A tapered fit with roomy thighs and tapered legs. Made from Ten (天) fabric, the denim stands for knotty and spotty, but also for the sky, which sums the characteristics of this slubby lightweight fabric perfectly. At 12.5oz, this super low tension fabric is extremely breathable without compromising on texture usually only to be found on denim a lot heavier. The combination of Texas cotton and Pima cotton for the warp and South American (Peru) cotton for the weft allow for some of the most irregular and textured denim that we have ever made. The density of the weft is a lot higher than the warp yarn which resulted in all the slub and hairiness we could hope for. Another important aspect of this fabric is the dye. While the warp yarn is rope-dyed in pure indigo, the horizontal threads of the weft demonstrate a light beige with the cheese dyeing method.

A tapered fit with roomy thighs and tapered leg. Our YURAI fabric is a sight to behold. After developing a rope-dying method for our natural indigo fabric, which results in rich and intense shades of blue and contrasts which makes it very unique, we wanted to take things further. We created a cobalt blue weft with natural indigo. We created this rich blue by dipping the yarn into natural indigo with shorter exposures to oxygen which results in a lighter blue. The colour reminds us of the Tanuki blue that runs through all of our products: YURAI means source. The denim is rich in slub and fuzziness on the surface and thanks to the loose weave, the cobalt blue peaks through the surface which adds depths to the denim. The electric blue fades will be very unique. The banana and light beige stitching adds just the right amount of contrast to this fabric.

This fabric is also much more affordable without compromising on the beauty of the natural indigo blue. Rope-dyed by the only mill in Japan able to do this type of natural indigo fabric, and used special organic natural indigo from India that cannot be found anywhere else in the Japanese denim industry. This fabric is exclusive in many ways. Made with the low-tension weave, the denim is rich in slub and fuzziness on the surface to rival the beautiful blue of natural indigo.
