The name was inspired by the duel of 1612 between Sasaki Kojiro and Miyamoto Musashi, the two swordsmen were bitter rivals at the time.  The duel began with both men on guard as a show of respect for the other’s skill with their own style and technique. In the end, though, there could be only one winner. Musashi had provoked Kojirō to make the first attack. Miyamoto quickly countered and succeeded in breaking Kojirō’s left ribs and puncturing his lungs, eventually killing him.  With such history behind, Samurai Jeans could never go wrong and built a history of its own in the denim world.

This is the 17oz Zero series slim tapered model.

The denim uses 17oz Bushido selvage, and is made with firm 5 count uneven thread and woven by an old-fashioned loom under a weaker tension, this 17oz denim comes out with a rough surface as its signature. The rough accent is even outstanding after one washing.

The wearer can enjoy it’s crisp feeling and admire the various shading across the denim.

Specifications include: S713VX exclusive leather patch and label, iron Matsunoki(Pine) buttons, copper coin rivets, and shogyōmujō jacquard fabric.

This is a slender straight fit with a strong tapered appearance that becomes tighter from the knee down.

Hailing from Japan, Samurai was founded in Osaka in 1997 by Toru Nogami (Nogami-san), one of the most renowned personas in the denim world. They’re easily among the most notable denim labels in the world. This is the first-ever collaboration we’ve ever done with a fellow denim brand. Being a denim-head in the early 2000s, we just can’t help but be inspired with all the qualities and particularities Samurai have to offer in the denim industry. One way or another, they assisted us in shaping who we are and what we aim for.

Old Blue decided to use Samurai’s original 21 ounces / sq. yard ‘Cho-Kiwami’ heavy-weight selvedge denim. Heavy ounces denim but constructed with extra-long staple cotton composition (40% Pima cotton, 60% Egyptian cotton). The other heavy consideration why we hand-picked the denim fabric is also because we’d combine it with our own signature 21/23 Oz Japanese Heavy-Weight denim (you often hear it referred as the ‘Beast’). We utilized our 21/23 Oz ‘Beast’ denim fabric for the right back pocket and coin pocket part of the denim build. The denim itself was built using Samurai’s signature 710 Cut. A denim pattern that has a nice and clean slim straight fit as its main offering.

This special OBXSAM denim dungaree surely has lots and lots of favorable details that you can expect from both of us. Specially designed (and exclusively made for this article only) arcuate stitch, special collaboration sheepskin leather patch, special OBXSAM inner woven label, specially made denim flasher (with 2 artworks), are just to name a few. We also utilized both of our signature trims & hardwares and combined ‘em shoulder-to-shoulder; the Oldblue’s Black Tab & Samurai’s Indigo Tab, Oldblue’s copper plated Scovill buttons & Samurai’s Gold Pine buttons, and the Oldblue’s copper Scovill rivets & Samurai’s signature copper rivets.

It’d take other multiple paragraphs to describe and list all the specialties on this ‘Kisouma Selvedge’ limited edition denim. All in all, this denim is best described as the result of a joint-work, joint-mind, and joint-effort between two brands which are just so sincerely passionate about quality denim and everything it comes with. It’s no surprise at all when we work together, the output will be something closely correlated with admirable quality jeans, made with flabbergasting selvedge denim fabric, constructed with redoubtable technique and experience, and filled with so many discreet and thoughtful details.

Studio D'Artisan made these socks in collaboration with a domestic sock factory, employing meticulous traditional manufacturing techniques. Crafted from durable and breathable fabric, they excel in sweat and moisture absorption, boast exceptional heat retention and resistance, and offer gentle comfort to the skin. Their versatile texture and simple design render them suitable for all seasons, ensuring longevity in wear. Made in Japan, these socks exhibit a robust construction, imparting a sense of quality with every step.

Size: Free size fits 25cm to 27cm. *Please note that this is a rough guideline as the fabric is stretchy.

These are 15.0oz selvedge jeans featuring "Ai Shibu dyed" treatment. Ai-shibu dyeing is an intricate and time-intensive technique, involving initial dyeing with real indigo to achieve a vibrant blue hue, followed by layering with persimmon tannin. The indigo dyeing results in a deeper color compared to regular methods, with the persimmon tannin intensifying in hue with use, thanks to tannin's property of undergoing condensation polymerization over time.

Persimmon juice, also recognized for its high antibacterial and deodorizing properties, has been historically used in Chinese herbal medicine. Japanese culture, with its reverence for the changing seasons and the ephemeral beauty of nature, finds expression in the colors achieved through indigo dyeing. These hues, passed down through generations, are known as "Japanese colors," possessing a profound and captivating allure that resonates deeply with admirers. The silhouette of these jeans is a regular straight fit.

This belt is crafted from the exclusive Ben's leather, sourced in limited quantities from the waist and buttocks of select cows. Its sturdy, rounded buckle features intricate engravings of the beloved D'Artisan mascots Indy and Clipper, while the iconic jeans pull logo adorns the belt itself. Accompanying this piece is a detachable leather tag, adding to its allure. Perfect for enthusiasts of both pigs and leather, this item is simply irresistible.

This denim jacket represents the classic 1st type style, crafted from the renowned 900 series 14oz right twill selvedge denim, famously known as G3 denim. G3 denim is woven using Japan's historic G3 power loom, a legendary piece of machinery with a legacy spanning over half a century. The fabric is meticulously woven through a technique called "darashi weaving," which involves manual adjustments to capture the distinctive unevenness and ruggedness characteristic of traditional workwear. Crafted from 15.0oz denim and dyed with natural indigo, these jeans boast a timeless charm with a modern twist. The use of natural indigo imbues them with a unique, soft three-dimensional texture, accentuated by the uneven nature of the dye. Notably, the rich warmth characteristic of natural indigo elevates their appeal.

Despite being dyed with natural indigo, these jeans undergo a medium-white rope dyeing process, which imparts a classic aesthetic while allowing for distinct fading patterns. This combination offers a balance between the traditional allure of natural indigo and the clear contrast of fading.

Featuring a relaxed tapered silhouette (108 type), these jeans offer both comfort and style, making them a versatile addition to any wardrobe.

This is STUDIO D'ARTISAN's iconic first model, the pioneering vintage-style selvedge jeans "DO1".

The "DO1" fabric for this project has been meticulously recreated by researching its original material and incorporating a 6th thread to replicate the twist count and the distinctive uneven texture from spinning.

Employing the traditional "Kasezome" dyeing technique of Tokushima Tatemasa Ai, great attention has been given to the meticulous process of "dyeing and drying, dyeing and drying" at least 20 times until achieving the rich navy blue hue.

The new "DO1" maintains the stylish thickness inherited from French workwear, utilizing original Tokushima Tatemasa indigo kase-dyed 15oz fabric. It features a regular straight silhouette.
